Meet Prof. Mary Mathew!
Dr. Mary Mathew is the Head and Professor of Pathology at Kasturba Medical College, Manipal, Manipal Academy of Higher Education and an Honorary Professor of Bioethics in various universities in India. She was the Head of the Manipal unit of the International Network of the UNESCO Chair in Bioethics (Haifa) and the Indian program till 2020. In 2021, she was appointed as the Head of Indian program of the International Chair of Bioethics (Haifa). She has authored several papers in Bioethics and moderated 44 webinars on ethical issues in COVID 19 pandemic organized by the Department of Education, International Chair in Bioethics, Melbourne Australia. She is a member of the International Forum of Teachers (IFT) in Bioethics and organizes, conducts, trains and teaches health professionals and students in Bioethics. She received the Distinguished Leadership in Bioethics Education from the UNESCO Chair in Bioethics (Haifa) for her contribution to the field of Bioethics education. She is FAIMER fellow in Interprofessional Ethics (IPE) and a fellow of the International Institute of Organizational Psychological Medicine (IIOPM). She is the co-editor of the journal Global Bioethics Enquiry, a scholarly publication of the UNESCO Chair and a reviewer for various journals. Her main area of interest is Social Accountability and Interprofessional Ethics.
