Meet Snigdha!

Dr. Snigdha Sharma completed her MBBS from Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (MGIMS), Sevagram, and is currently pursuing her postgraduate training in Orthopaedics at Government Medical College, Chandrapur (Maharashtra, India). Her engagement with bioethics began during her undergraduate training in 2019 as part of the MGIMS Bioethics Unit, affiliated with the UNESCO Chair in Bioethics in Haifa. As an Executive Member and Research Head, she contributed to ETHOS initiatives, including national bioethics conferences, ethics-driven theatre and radio communication, community outreach programs, and public health campaigns addressing doctor–patient relationships, tobacco cessation, reproductive hygiene, tuberculosis control, and ethical awareness in rural health settings. Dr Sharma has held several leadership positions at both national and international levels. She served as Vice President of the All India Medical Students Association (AIMSA) in 2020 and played a key role as Organising Secretary of WEBMEDQUEST 2020—India’s first fully virtual medical conference, fostering interdisciplinary dialogue between medicine, ethics, digital innovation, and public health. Academically, she has been deeply involved in research, scholarly writing, and scientific publishing. She has authored more than ten peer-reviewed publications and presented research on multiple national and international stages, earning several awards, including the Young Researcher Award (2022) and the International Best Researcher Award (2023). She contributes to global academic communities as a reviewer for several journals, and as an Associate Editor and Reviewer at the International Journal of Medical Students (IJMS), alongside editorial involvement with journals such as the Nigerian Medical Journal, Cureus, Journal of Asian Medical Students Association (JAMSA) and The British Student Doctor Journal. She has also represented India in global academic platforms, including the Consortium of Universities for Global Health (CUGH), where she was part of the Global Health Workforce Panel evaluating international fellowship applications. She has been the President of the International Relations Council, Global Association Of Indian Medical Students (GAIMS) and worked as the Indian representative and Workshop Facilitator of Clinical Communication Skills at Glocal Academy, United Kingdoms. Dr. Sharma remains passionate about integrating ethics, empathy, and academic rigor in clinical practice and medical education. Her current interests lie at the intersection of bioethics, global surgery, medical publishing, and public health advocacy. Outside her clinical and scholarly commitments, she enjoys writing and exploring interdisciplinary spaces where medicine connects with humanity, culture, and narrative.
